Finally, at Dave's show was Matt Preisendanz who is also a very good guitar play. I've heard him the same song, but for his voice I think it works. His voice is very fragile but the pitch is very good. He played one song that wasn't planned before the show but the song was good.
I think I've heard it somewhere but I don't know where. My guess is that Dave called him up on stage because he didn't know what to do. I heard him play when he hosted a Taize worship service in our fraternity house. He took the lead for most of it but I liked the songs he played.
I look forward to hearing him play again sometime and here is a picture and a video from tonight.
Tonight also at Dave's show was Greg Cwik. We don't listen to the same music genres but seeing him solo tonight on electric guitar was amazing. I knew he had played for a while but I give him mad props for his skills on the guitar tonight.
It was almost as if he made it look easy as his fingers went up and down the fretboard. Unfortunately I didn't take a picture of him, but I did get a video and it shows his talent very well. I aspire one day to be as good at playing guitar but also soloing like him.
Along with Dave was Dan Saunders. He is a freshman and what a voice he has. His voice reminds me of that of the lead singer of Maroon 5. He sang a song he wrote himself and it was pretty hard to tell if it was a cover or his own was how good it was.
We talked on the way over to the show and I mentioned that his old beaten up guitar had character. He said to me that usually he has to tell people this. My own guitar personally doesn't have enough scratches.
So tonight I went to my friend Dave Foster's show at Charlie's. I think it was one of his last shows but I think he went out on a good note. I liked the sound of each song he did because none of them sounded the same.
I had heard him play because we live in the same fraternity house, but I had never heard him play anything other than an acoustic bass.
I was unfamiliar with most of the songs he had played which I thought was good because I had no previous judgment of how the song had originally sounded. Dave's voice is unique in the sense that it is not really a deep deep voice but it is also not a very high pitch voice.
here are a couple pictures and a video from tonight's show.
Today I decided to blog about a couple country legends. They are one of my all time favorite country groups and one of the reasons why I fell in love with country music. Their name is Brooks & Dunn and they came to Hershey, Pennsylvania last summer. Brooks & Dunn is made up of Ronnie Dunn and Kix Brooks.
They announced earlier last year that they were calling it quits after 20 years. I made it a point to see them before they called it quits. They weren't as good as I thought they would be but they were still pretty good.
One part that stands out to me is that during a portion of the concert Kix Brooks came out with the Calder Cup, A trophy given to the team that wins the American Hockey League and said "does this belong to anyone?".
The Hershey Bears had recently won back to back Calder Cup titles and some of the players came on stage to claim it and the fans cheered.
Here are some pictures from the concert and a video from Brooks & Dunn.
